General Responsibilities
Specific Classroom Responsibilities
Associate Teachers of the Neighborhood Charter School are an integral
part of the teaching- learning team of the school. To that end their specific
classroom
responsibilities are all encompassing.
The Associate Teachers need to have a good understanding
of the constructivist learning theory, the curriculum
of their
assigned class, and the state
Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). The appropriate formal and informal staff development
will be offered so that the Associate Teachers have the opportunity to enhance
their understanding of the components of the school’s
program. This will allow the Associate Teachers to
give input on the
planning process and help
set student goals, assist with the various program
assessment tools, and serve as a team member in terms
of instruction,
classroom management,
and administrative
chores. This sort of relationship will give children
the opportunity to have two adults involved in their
learning
opportunities.
The teachers of the Neighborhood Charter School welcome this sort of partnership
and will work to build that teaming situation by making sure that the students
understand the comprehensive role of the Associate Teacher, helping the teacher
to further develop their skills.
