Maya Jenkins
Welcome to third grade at The Neighborhood Charter School! My name is Maya Jenkins. I am very excited to be joining the NCS team this year for my seventh year teaching.
I began my teaching career six years ago in the Atlanta Public School System where I taught Kindergarten and second grade, each for one year. Meanwhile, I earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. I later moved to Fulton County Public Schools where I then taught second grade for the next four years. This year, I am thrilled to start a new chapter teaching third grade here at NCS.
I am originally from Bethesda, Maryland. I currently live in East Atlanta with my husband, Howard, our two sons, Hakim and Kai, as well as our dog, Malcolm. In my free time, I like to spend time outdoors riding my bike or playing tennis. I also LOVE to read!
I am thoroughly excited to embark on this year’s journey!

Candid Taylor
My name is Candid Taylor and I am a third grade teacher with Maya Jenkins. I was born and raised in Flint, MI. I came to Atlanta to attend Clark Atlanta University. I graduated in 2004 with a B.A. in Public Relations. After two years as the Public Relations Coordinator for Black Professionals Magazine, I decided to take on a new career in education. I came to NCS last year as a second grade teacher. I enjoy listening to music, boxing, going shopping with friends, writing stories, and going to musicals and the ballet. But, most of all I love going back to Michigan to visit my family. I'm excited to be back this year and look forward to working with Ms. Jenkins and many of the students I worked with last year!
