The Neighborhood Charter School is a public school serving the communities of Grant Park and Ormewood Park. It is financed in part and run by community members just like you! You can help in one of several ways!

Attend our Community Fundraisers!

Keep your eyes open for information about Neighborhood Charter School social events we will have to raise money and share information about NCS.

Volunteer as Needed!

Help occasionally with miscellaneous tasks such as: making copies, distributing fliers, baby-sitting during meetings, stuffing envelopes, making phone calls, etc.

Become an active member of the PTCA.  
The PTCA is divided into several areas, consider joining one of these. Outreach focuses on reaching out to and communicating with our school population and community at large. Volunteering focuses on enabling parents and families to reach their family contract volunteer requirements as well as educating class parents and teachers regarding expectations and responsibilities of volunteers. Fundraising plans, develops, and hosts all fundraising events. Enrichment organizes all extra-curricular activities and makes programs available to our children and families which will enrich their bodies, minds, talents, and creativity. The PTCA also has a Secretary / Historian and a Treasurer, consider serving in one of these roles.

Become active on one of the other School Committees
Student Learning
gathers information and makes recommendations about the school’s curriculum and other educational issues. Diversity Awareness and Initiatives gathers information and makes recommendations about methods to celebrate and respond to the diversity in and around the school. Grant Writing identifies and pursues grants and other sources of income for the school. Building and Grounds maintains the facility and grounds of the school. Media Resources encompasses library and technology issues within the school. Related Arts encompasses issues related to the music, art and physical education programs of the school. Parent and Family Involvement leads development and oversight of the Parent Involvement plan. Finance prepares and manages the school budget. Personnel establishes and maintains school personnel procedures and assists with hiring of school personnel.


Serve on the Governing Board
Consider serving as a parent representative or board committee chair on the Governing Board.
