2:30-School Wide Dismissal

Dismissal Locations

Dismissal will occur from two locations within the building.

• Walkers will be met in their classrooms.
• Van riders will leave from the classrooms.
• Car riders will leave from the Media Center.

Dismissal Schedule

• 2:25 - An announcement will be made stating, “It is 2:25, time to prepare for dismissal.”
• Students who are walkers, van riders, in After School or Enrichment for the day remain in their classrooms until 2:45.
• 2:30 – All walkers will be dismissed. 
• 2:30 - Car riders are escorted to media center.
• Van Riders will be called as vans arrive.
• 2:45 – On duty after school aides/counselors leave their daily dismissal placements and pick up designated after school children (the grade level they will be with at after school)
• 2:45 - Teachers walk enrichment children to auditorium.
• 2:45 - Remaining walkers and car riders report to after school. 
• 2:45 – Remaining Van Riders will report to the auditorium  

Car Rider Numbers

If a parent/guardian plans to pick up a child by car at any time during this year, aschool car rider number must be obtained.  This number must be displayed in your car window each time you pick up your child.  If another authorized person pick ups your child, please make sure that they display that same number in their car window.  This number system will expedite the release of your child any afternoon. 

If a person does not secure a number or display a number, and come to pick up your child at dismissal, the person will need to park their car and enter the school office so your child may be notified of your arrival.  If you have any questions or concerns about these procedures please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Rosswurm at 404-624-6226.

Dismissal Expectations

Dismissal will be handled in an orderly fashion with children waiting quietly for dismissal.  Parents coming into the building to greet walkers are asked to be sure that any children with them adhere to these same orderly expectations.  Parents are also asked to remember that this is not a conference time with teachers.  Teachers are responsible for the children with them at that time.  Teachers are glad to set conference times for any parent who would like to do that at a more appropriate time.

Any student who does not meet the expectations for dismissal procedures will be warned about their behavior and parents will be notified.  If this occurs a second time the student will not be allowed to participate in planned activities or be transported to other after school program locations.  Parents will be called to pick up their students.
